Description
Walk around the perimeter of Headland’s newly established wetland and out to the beach. We’ll search for shorebirds, ducks, gulls, and of course, warblers! Feel free to bring your spotting scope, but we will have one to share for up close views of our migrating feathered friends. We’ll also learn about the endangered Great Lakes population of piping plovers and the state’s efforts to re-establish breeding grounds. Come prepared to walk on sand for portions of the trip.
Directions
Meet at 10:00 am Sunday near the west end wetland at Headlands Beach State Park. Wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to walk in sand.
