Volunteer at the Headlands Birding Festival
Join the flock and help make the festival a success
Each year, volunteers make the Headlands Birding Festival possible by helping with registration, guiding bird walks, greeting visitors, and supporting events throughout the weekend. Volunteering is a great way to meet fellow nature lovers, learn more about birds, and contribute to a community event that celebrates conservation and outdoor discovery at Headlands Beach State Park.
The Festival needs volunteers for the following activities:
- Festival setup
- Festival tear-down
- Festival photographer
- Registration packet assembly
- Registration table
- Keynote check-in
- Pelagic check-in
- AV for Keynote and talk tents
- Talk tent moderators
- Leading (and co-leading) birding walks

Festival volunteers will receive the following:
- Free General Registration
- Free festival volunteer t-shirt
- Free entrance to the Saturday and Sunday talks
- Keynote check-in volunteers get free entrance to the keynote
- Our heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude for your help!
All of the volunteer spots for 2026 have been filled! We would be happy to put your name on a waiting list to fill any unforseen cancels for this year, or to collect your information for next year’s festival.
