Description

Start your Headlands Birding Festival weekend with a walk in the field! Join us for an evening hike through the diverse habitats of Chagrin River Park, including river corridor, forest edge, and open areas. This is a great time to observe how bird activity shifts at the end of the day—some species settling in, while others become more active as dusk approaches. We’ll look and listen for a range of species and behaviors that you might not notice during daytime birding. With a bit of luck, the park could even add a new Lake County species to your list! Whether you’re local or visiting from out of town, this is a relaxed, informative way to kick off the weekend with fellow birders. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather—long pants and sturdy shoes recommended. All experience levels are welcome.

Directions

Arrive at the Reeves Road parking lot, located at 3100 Reeves Road in Willoughby. We will meet by the playground and begin at 5:30 pm on Friday. Dress for the weather with comfortable shoes. Terrain is flat, and trail sections are pavement and gravel. The program may go off the groomed trail in some spots. Insect spray is recommended. Flush restrooms are available on site.
