Description
“The Holiday” will take birders on a boating venture along the Lake Erie coast in search of migrating shorebirds and other rarities. Expert guides will be on board to help in the identification of species. Targets include jaegers, black terns, rare shorebirds, and gulls. Expect potentially rough waters and cool temperatures. Participants who are prone to sea sickness should come prepared, as motion sickness aids will not be available.
Directions
Meet at the Headlands Beach State Park pavilion at 7am. A bus will take participants to the Mentor Harbor Yacht Club to board. Tripods will not be permitted on board. There will be a cash/credit bar aboard and two bathrooms for convenience and comfort. Coffee and tea are provided free of charge. We recommend guests bring snacks since it is a three-hour trip. Also, please wear nonslip shoes (no heels, please) due to the surface of the deck. This trip is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. If so, participants will be eligible for a full refund.
