The Headlands Birding Festival is headquartered at Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve in Mentor. Registration check-in, festival booths, vendors, and food trucks are all located within the parking area of the nature preserve. While most programs meet at the nature preserve, there are several off-site programs at nearby parks.

The Friday Keynote Address and social hour are hosted at Springbrook Gardens Park in Mentor. These events are held inside the Springbrook Gardenhouse.
