The Friends of Headlands Beach State Park is an Ohio 501c3 non-profit group dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of Headlands Beach State Park. The park is a vital part of the community, attracting two million visitors annually. Our mission is to support the park through fundraising, advocacy, and volunteer efforts.

Supporting the Park
Our organization relies on the support of members, donors, and volunteers to achieve our mission. We work to raise funds that will benefit the park directly, such as through the purchase of new equipment or the funding of improvement projects. We also advocate for policies that support the park’s long-term sustainability.
Engaging the Community
We believe community involvement is essential to the success of Headlands Beach State Park. Our organization provides opportunities for volunteers to contribute to the park’s maintenance and improvement. We also offer educational programs and events that engage local residents and visitors alike.

Preserving the Natural Environment
Our organization is committed to preserving the natural environment of Headlands Beach State Park for generations to come. We work to promote sustainable practices and protect the local ecosystem. Through educational programs and community outreach, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of conservation.

Explore the Park

Headlands Beach State Park
The trademark of Headlands Beach State Park is its massive 35-acre Lake Erie beach. Besides providing exceptional sunbathing and swimming opportunities, Headlands Beach also offers unique beach glass hunting and phenomenal Lake Erie sunset viewing. Picnicking is available throughout the park and a paved hike/bike trail that runs along the park’s back dunes provides excellent views of the beach and lake.

Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve
Extensive development along the shores of Lake Erie has all but eliminated the presence of sandy beaches and dunes. Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve, located adjacent to Headlands Dunes State Park, is one of the last of its kind in Ohio. This community is much more than just an accumulation of sand along a shoreline. It is a living assemblage of fascinating and highly specialized plants and animals occurring in an environment too hostile for most other organisms to survive.
